For several years now, he has been delighting audiences with his intricate and imaginative monster drawings—hundreds upon hundreds of them!
« Nature is life!! It’s something that’s taking up more and more space in our society—the importance of protecting and respecting it. We’ve gone too far! My ‘fantasy’ world isn’t actually that different from reality; I’m not really inventing much, if you take a good look around you. I think I have this huge need to escape through my drawings, to reconnect with nature, and to help others reconnect too—to go back to the source of who we are and where we come from, and to give love back to nature. Honestly, I feel guilty… I’m just a frustrated city dweller! »
Stan Manoukian
A Sparkle in the Night is a magical piece, filled with poetry and strange yet endearing creatures, brought to life through a delicate play of light and shadow that enhances the mysterious nature of this snapshot scene. The original was drawn on fine Vinci 250 gsm paper (graphite and red pencil, 30 x 42 cm). The reproduction we are offering over this three-day period has been high-resolution scanned by Stan and carefully processed to match the original as closely as possible. Printed in a 50 x 70 cm format on premium fine art paper, the result is truly stunning.
« Notice how these exceptionally detailed and precise drawings don’t need panels, speech bubbles, or any text at all to pull us straight into wonderful adventures with a hint of childhood magic. The gestures, the expressions, the lush vegetation worthy of botanical and naturalist plates… The drawings feel as if they’ve been taken right out of a 19th-century traveler’s notebook—a traveler who somehow wandered into a poetic, sometimes nostalgic world, the kind of world Stan Manoukian’s work invites us to explore. »
